Player Experience Mid-August Update
Hello everyone! We’ve released some major quality of life changes focused around new player feedback we’ve received over the last week. These updates focus on balancing to allow players to engage with the game without needing to take breaks to regenerate stamina. Further, we’ve introduced new item recipes and changes to existing recipes to ensure there’s more food options, and less time spent waiting to craft items. This post will be thorough with the updates, so feel free to jump down to view a TL;DR summary at the bottom!
Stamina Changes
General Stamina Rebalancing
- Stamina regeneration when idling is now 2 every 5 seconds (was 1 every 6s)
- Stamina regeneration when sitting is now 5 every 4 seconds (was 2 every 6s)
- Total player stamina increased from 150 to 250.
- Total player health increased from 120 to 200.
These changes should allow for more active play in Ticuto as stamina regeneration is no longer a hindering force for most casual/medium activities. Recently, feedback received pointed to new players getting stuck in the tutorial after depleting stamina and having limited ways in getting it back quickly. While sitting down to regenerate stamina is encouraged, it hinders gameplay flow, especially in the tutorial and for new players.
Player health has been increased to assist with slime or spike trap damage. Since slimes cannot yet be defeated by the player, we’ve given players a few extra hits before they get KO’d. Expect this value to change again once there are more ways to regen health.
Tool Stamina Cost Balancing
Stamina balancing changes have been made to nearly every tool in-game. Values below indicate how much stamina is used after doing an activity once in-game. Note: This applies to using a tool once – mining Copper Ore for example would take 4 hits from a Stone Pickaxe, which would use a total of 40 stamina before this update.
- Hand pickup cost 5 -> 4
- Shovel use cost 8 -> 7
- Tilling land cost 10 -> 15
- Crop plant cost 5 -> 4
- Pickaxe use cost 10 -> 8
- Axe use cost 10 -> 8
- Fishing use cost 8 -> 8
These changes should allow for more activity with a full bar of stamina. Our goal here is to encourage resource gathering, especially in Hubble Mine, without the player feeling stuck. Also, the only increase here is for using a hoe – tilling land is a permanent action and the higher stamina cost is seen as a one-time thing. To compensate for a higher upfront stamina cost, planting crops is now less stamina.
Food Stamina Changes
Almost all consumable food items have balancing updates. Values below indicate how much stamina is restored after eating the item.
- Apple 10 -> 15
- Carrot 7 -> 6
- Slice of Carrot Cake 15 -> 20
- Blueberries 5 -> 6
- Red Currant Berries 4 -> 5
- Mixed Berry Jam (Renamed from Berry Jam) 50 -> 70
- Red Currant Jam 20 -> 60
- Blueberry Jam 20 -> 80
- Slice of Coconut Cream Pie 10 -> 24
- Slice of Pumpkin Pie 10 -> 20
- Tomato 4 -> 6
The goal here is to make all harvestables replenish at least the cost of harvesting the item. Since it was pointed out that berries at their previous values wouldn’t regen too much stamina after eating all items from a harvest (net regen of 10 stamina for red currants, 9 for blueberries). Further, it was noted that apples were barely worth the effort to harvest, especially when compared to blueberry bushes (cost 6 stamina to pick up, regens 10 – No recipes to make these items more useful currently exist). Additionally, all recipe-related food items now give more stamina to encourage crafting. Red Currant Jam recipe has been released as a tutorial reward and will be made available to all players soon.
New Items and Recipes

- Red Currant Jam has now been released.
- The recipe for this item is now a quest reward during the tutorial. It will be made available for all players later.
- Blueberry Jam has now been created.
- The recipe for this item is now a quest reward before you reach the new time crystal island. This quest, alongside all the other Hubble Town-related main quests, will be released soon.
- Basket of Carrots and Basket of Apples is now craftable.
- These items can be crafted if you’ve unlocked the Empty Basket recipe.
- As a reminder – the Empty Basket recipe can be found by breaking wooden crates you find throughout the game. It’s a random drop but you’re guaranteed to get it sooner or later!
- While not consumable, these items are perfect for farming-related decor or selling for a higher price compared to the raw materials used to make the items.
- Milk can now be consumed.
- Milk will now restore 15 Stamina on consumption.
- Christmas Pudding can now be consumed.
- This item will now restore 100 Stamina on consumption.
- This seasonal item is often times sold during the winter/Christmas season.
- Red, Brown, and Green Mushrooms can now be consumed.
- Just because you can… doesn’t mean you should! Red Mushrooms take health away. Brown mushrooms only restore 5 stamina. Green Mushrooms? Safe to eat!
- This change is being made to encourage players to experiment more with consumables. Brown Mushrooms, which appear only in caves, are a last-resort type of food for long excursions in the caves. Red mushrooms are a good lesson on not eating everything you see!
Other Crafting Changes
Further, certain changes for crafting are focused less on balancing, and more on providing players with more responsive gameplay. So, less time spent on watching loading bars is always a good thing!
- Mixed Berry Jam (Renamed Berry Jam) craft time from 15 -> 6 seconds
- Blueberry Jam and Red Currant Jam craft time is 6 seconds
- Empty Basket craft time is now 10 seconds
- Basket of Carrots and Basket of Apples craft time is 3 seconds.
- Stone tools craft time is now 5 seconds (was 10)
- Empty Jar and Empty Bottle craft time is now 8 seconds (was 15)
- Red Bricks craft time is now 5 seconds (was 15)
- Flour craft time is now 6 seconds (was 10)
- All ingots now have a craft time of 5 seconds (Gold was 10, copper/iron was 6)
Tutorial Changes

- Dialog has been condensed for most tutorial NPCs and spaces. This has dialog boxes contain more text, and requires less “Next” clicks.
- Gathering a Snack, the tutorial quest to introduce food/stamina restoration, now gives 3 empty jars and a Red Currant Jam recipe. Player is also encouraged to gather more red currants to craft jam.
- A range has been added to Ivy’s Path and Town Entrance (allows jam crafting)
- Resolved an issue with Astra in the Town Entrance space.
- Slowed down some dialog to give players a better chance to read what’s happening in-game.
- Bumped spike trap warning from Gustave to on space entry VS after encountering first spike trap.
- Added additional berry bushes to rooms throughout tutorial spaces.
Update Summary
To recap – stamina is now easier to regenerate and food restores more stamina on consumption. Some existing items are now consumable. Further, most activities will now require less stamina. For example, breaking a rock with a stone pickaxe will consume a total of 32 stamina now versus 40 before.
Also, updates to our tutorial have been made. For example, Ivy’s space features more berry bushes and a range and her quest gives the player a unique jam recipe.
As always, we love feedback for Ticuto! If you have any feedback, suggestions, comments, or anything else for us, leave us a message in Discord, social media, or on our contact form here.
